Review of Revlon Lip Butters

The Revlon Lip Butters were raved about on YouTube and I loved the way 025 Peach Parfait looked on women of similar skin tone to me so I had to try it out. Of course, it was sold out at a couple places, but my most wonderful husband found it at a CVS one night. I was obsessed with this lipstick after the first try (and still am). It is now my go-to lipstick when I don’t feel like thinking about what I’m going to wear.

And since I loved this one, naturally, I needed to try more. I tried to get a range of colors to see if the formula was similar across colors (in some lipstick lines lighter colors have a slightly different formula, or apply differently, than darker colors). The formula is definitely buttery and feels very nice on the lips. It is a thicker, almost melty, formula and is a tiny bit sticky. I would not recommend leaving this lipstick in your car—it would be a mess. It can also be a little messy in the tube; but to me, the way the colors look on me and the formula make it worth it. It also smells faintly of cake/vanilla (always a plus when done right).

Below are four that I have:

001 Pink Truffle
This color was one of my favorite products of January. It is the perfect “your lips but better” color for me. It is a very muted brown-pink. It looks very natural, and is another go-to for me when I don’t feel like thinking about my lip color. This color does not have any shimmer in it. It has the look of a lip gloss, but the feel of a lipstick. It took me a while to find this one, it was sold out everywhere. When I see it again, I will be buying a back up.

025 Peach Parfait
This is a deeper peach color, but still looks very natural. It has very fine glitter in it, but it’s not overbearing. I use this color so much I already have two backups! It goes well with pretty much everything—smoky eye, natural eye, no make-up look. I can’t get enough!

027 Juicy Papaya
This will be a great color for summer. It is a very bright, light pinky coral. It is colorful, but not very saturated so I love it. The finish is very similar to Pink Truffle—no shimmer but has a lip gloss shine. I would recommend exfoliating before using this color otherwise it can look uneven. I haven’t worn this color too much because it really is more of a spring/summer color. Soon Juicy Papaya, soon!

050 Berry Smoothie
This is a brighter berry color and also has very fine glitter in it. This is the type of berry color that can take you through all the seasons—not too dark, not to bright—it’s just right. I use this when I want a more saturated color on my lip. I don’t need a lip liner with it (or any of the lip butters) which is a bonus.

Overall, I really, really love this lipstick line. I’m interested in comparing these to other lip butter-esque lipsticks. I just got one of the Almay Butter Kisses; other brands have similar products as well.

Have you tried Revlon Lip Butters or any other “butter” lipsticks? Let me know your thoughts!
