CVS is my
favorite store to grab great beauty deals. If you haven’t already, sign up for their
ExtraCare card. You can swipe it in the front of the store at a kiosk and get
tons of store coupons (that you can combine with manufacturer’s coupons). CVS
will also email you coupons (e.g., $3 off a $15 dollar purchase, 30% off your
regular price purchase) and you can get ExtraCare Bucks—these are essentially
money, just money you can only use at CVS. You get ExtraCare Bucks by buying
certain products (e.g., spend $12 on Revlon products and get $4 in ExtraCare
Bucks back). You can use the ECBs on your next purchase. Also, if you sign up
for CVS’s Beauty Club you get $5 ECBs when you spend $50 on beauty products.
The $50 total is BEFORE coupons!
So sales +
coupons + ECBs make CVS my favorite couponing spot.
Here’s what I got this week:
This deal
required two transactions, as opposed to the one transaction required last week
(Saturday, 1/31/15).
First
Transaction:
This
week, Physician’s Formula is spend $10 get $7 ECBs back. I was going to
purchase a concealer, but then saw the Plump Potion Needle-Free Lip Plumping
Cocktail and was intrigued. This isn’t something I would normally purchase, but
curiosity got the best of me. It claims to plump, hydrate and smooth lips in 60
seconds. I’ll post a review of this product once I try it out a few times.
Breakdown: The Plump Potion was
$10.49 and I had $10 ECBs from my purchase last week so I ended up paying,
before tax, $0.49. A 95% savings! And I received $7 ECBs to use in my next
transaction.
Second
Transaction:
In the Sunday newspaper, there was a
manufacturer’s coupon for a free Revlon mascara with the purchase of any Revlon
eyeliner. Revlon eyeliner was on sale at CVS this week for $7.79 (as was the
mascara). I grabbed the Revlon Lash Potion by Grow Luscious Waterproof (oops, I
wanted the normal one) Volume & Length Mascara in 221 Blackest Black and
Revlon Colorstay Crème Gel Eye Linter in 001 Black.
Breakdown: Eyeliner = $7.79, mascara
= $7.79. I used the coupon for the free mascara and the $7 in ECBs I had from
my first transaction. That left my total at $0.79 before tax, a 96% savings.
For spending $10 on Revlon products, I received $3 in ECBs for my next
purchase.
Final
Breakdown: Before coupons, sales and taxes, my total would have been $30.97. Sales and coupons used:
$10 ECBs (from last week’s
transaction)
Free Revlon mascara with the
purchase of a Revlon eyeliner, manufacturer’s coupon
$1.20 off the mascara (CVS sale)
$3.70 off the eyeliner (CVS sale)
$7 ECBs (from first transaction)
I paid
$1.28 (before tax) for three products—over a 95% savings!! That’s less than $0.50 per product! Even if
you don’t have ECBs from last week it’s still a 64% savings (you’ll spend
$10.49 in the first transaction, but then only $0.79 in the second
transaction). You’ve got to start somewhere though, so you may spend money the
first week, but going forward you’ll have ECBs to spend.
After all
that, I also have $3 in ECBs to spend next week! I should also be getting $5
ECBs because I have spent over $50 (before coupons) on beauty items between
this and last week. These ECBs will print at the kiosk in front of the store or
at the end of your receipt.
