Review of February 2015 POPSUGAR Must Have Box

The POPSUGAR Must Have Box is a monthly subscription box that is $39.99 a month. If you sign up for 3 months you receive a $10 discount and if you sign up for 6 months you receive a $25 discount. You can often find coupon codes online (see: mysubscriptionaddiciton.com—that’s where I found mine) where you can save up to half off a box! You get a mix of everything—makeup, skin care, food, accessories, décor, fitness items and more. This box is not customized, everyone receives the same items.

POPSUGAR comes with a card detailing all the included items, and their value. This month’s theme is, of course, love-inspired. 

Below are the items I received, along with mini-reviews.

Product #1: Tarte Cosmetics Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in True Love

    So, so excited to see this! It is popular opinion that Tarte has some of the best blushes around. I have one (Fearless) and love it. This color gives the “just in from the cold” flush to your cheeks. It is a reddish-pinky color. I wore it today and it gave me a very natural, healthy look. It is definitely pigmented—a little goes a long way. It is long-lasting. I’ve had it on for 10 hours so far and it still looks like it did when I first put it on. LOVE!

 Product #2: U.S. Apothecary Rose Water Bubble Bath (12 oz.)

     I never take baths. I just can’t get on board with them, so I was less excited when I saw this. However, it does smell very good—faintly of roses and the bottle is gorgeous. I will probably leave the bottle out on the counter in my guest bathroom. It is all-natural, organic and infused with rose water.

Product #3: ACME Party Box Company Bamboo Heart Cutting Board & Cheese Knife

    My husband was very excited for this. He likes cheese a lot. We’ve always wanted a cheese board but could never bring ourselves to buy one so I’m glad POPSUGAR brought it to us. The cutting board is heart-shaped, but I feel that it can be used year round. I like that it came with a knife too, although the knife feels a little cheap. It also came in a nice burlap drawstring bag. LOVE!

Product #4: BaubleBar Mini Arrow Pendant Necklace

    This necklace comes in either silver or gold. I received silver. I actually already have a different gold arrow necklace, so I’m happy to have one in silver now. It is very dainty. The arrow has small pave stones on the arrow tip and feathers. The arrow is also imbedded in the chain, it is not a charm on the chain. What I really like about it is that the chain has two loops so you can make the chain shorter if need be (and I need be!). It also came with a 30% off coupon to BaubleBar, which is a very trendy retailer right now. LOVE!

Product #5: Figs & Rouge 100% Natural Balm

    This lip balm comes in a variety of flavors and I received pomegranate. I’ve been wanting to try this brand because they are 100% natural and the lip balm is formulated without petroleum. It smells like those chalky lollipops that have the rope handle. Do you know the ones I’m talking about?? Thankfully, the smell is not strong and once I put it on my lips I can’t smell it anymore. I have noticed that my lips were slightly dry when using it and it doesn’t stay on the lips very long. Not too impressed so far but I will keep trying it out.

Product #6: Chuao Chocolatier Ravishing Rocky Road Bar

    I was so, so excited when I saw this brand of chocolate. I first tried Chuao’s firecracker bar a few months ago and loved it. It’s soooo good! Then I was letdown when I saw the Rocky Road had marshmallow in it. I don’t eat marshmallow because it contains gelatin, an animal product. I checked out the ingredients and saw that they used vegan marshmallows. Joy returns! It was a rollercoaster. You can probably tell by the picture that I immediately started eating it. It is milk chocolate with marshmallow and salted, caramelized almonds. According to the package it is: 100% natural, ethically sourced cacao, no hydrogenated fats, no artificial preservatives, colors, flavors or sweeteners. It is delicious. Love!

Product #7: Sally Beauty FingerPaints Nail Color

    This is a special extra product that comes in a variety of colors. I received Pink Imagination. It is a pale pink with a pale, fine iridescence to it. I’m not a fan of pink, but I don’t mind this color. I like the iridescence it has to it as well. It claims to go on with just one coat, and I did indeed only need one coat so that is impressive. It came with a Buy 1 Get 1 Free coupon for any FingerPaints nail color at Sally Beauty Supply.

Value: $5.50

Overall Value: $139.50

            Definitely worth the $35 I paid. I will use all of these products, with probably the exception of the bubble bath. Also, there was a good mix of beauty, food and practical items again.

I also have to applaud POPSUGAR for not knocking you over the head with Valentine’s Day. It was definitely a pink and feminine box but it did not scream “HEARTS! VALENTINE’S! LOVE!” I greatly appreciated that as I am not one for Valentine’s Day. Although, I guess I did say “LOVE!” a lot in this post…
