My Current Skin Care Routine: Night

**If you are receiving this post via email, you may want to check out the actual site as the email throws off the formatting**

You’ve been asking, so here it is! My nighttime skin care routine is much more involved than my morning skin care routine. Below are the products I use in some combination at night.

The Quick Summary:
1. Makeup Remover
2. Face Cleanser
3. Face Brush
4. Exfoliator
5. Face Mask
6. Toner
7. Serum
8. Eye Cream
9. Moisurizer

Specific Products I Use:

1. Makeup Remover: Bioderma Sensibo H2O Micelle Solution
This micellar water has a cult following and is highly recommended by beauty YouTubers. What is a micellar water, you ask? It is a makeup remover and cleanser in one! Using a separate makeup remover is a step that I often neglect in my skincare routine. I usually just use my face cleanser to remove my makeup, which can sometimes leave residue. When I remember, I’ll use Bioderma to remove my makeup. It is especially good at eye makeup removal because is so gentle that it doesn’t irritate my eyes like most eye makeup removers do. This also removes my foundation, etc. It’s not available in U.S. shops (it’s a French product), but you can get it on Amazon.

2. Face Cleanser: Boscia Purifying Cleansing Gel
This came in my Clarisonic kit and I’ve just starting to use it. I am almost out of the Simple Moisturizing Face Wash I’ve been using for a while, so I’m transitioning to this Boscia one. I’m not sure if I like it. It smells like bar soap and it seems to dry my skin out. I’m going to try it for a little while longer before I make the final verdict. It is supposed to remove makeup (it seems to be fairly good at this), refine pores and lock in moisture.

3. Face Brush: Clarisonic Mia 2 Skin Cleansing System, twice a week
The Clarisonic is a motorized brush that cleans your face. It sounds scary, but it’s really not. The brush has bristles that move in different directions to deep clean your skin and push dirt and grime out of your pores. It uses that same technology of the Sonicare electric toothbrush. I use this about twice a week since I have super sensitive skin. The normal brush head it came with was too harsh on my skin so I ordered the Luxe Facial Brush and it is much softer and gentler on my skin. I will probably start using the Clarisonic more often now. It claims to cleanse your skin six times better than washing with your hands.

4. Exfoliator: Boscia Tsubaki Oil-Infused Exfoliating Powder
I talked about this exfoliator in my Travel Skin CareEssentials and I absolutely love it. It is a chemical exfoliator so it does not irritate my skin like physical (i.e., those with beads) exfoliators tend to. This is an absolute Holy Grail product for me. It leaves my skin feeling so soft, smooth and bright. This is one product that I see a difference in my skin if I don’t use it for a couple of days. I would highly recommend it!

5. Mask: Origins Out of Trouble 10 Minute Mask to Rescue Problem Skin or GlamGlow ThirstyMud Hydrating Treatment
I also talked about the Origins mask in my Travel Skin CareEssentials. This mask fixes just about anything for me. When my skin is looking cranky or I feel a blemish coming on, I use this mask. I use it once or twice a week. I want to start using face masks more, but having to wait 10-20 minutes and then wash them off is a pain for me at night when I’m tired (especially when the weather is cold). I like that this one is 10 minutes and easy to wash off. It smells slightly medicinal because it has camphor on it, but it is calming to the skin. It also contains salicylic acid to nip blemishes in the bud. Sephora says this mask is best for combination to oily skin, but I have dry/sensitive skin and have no issues with it.
If my skin is feeling extra dry, I’ll put on the GlamGlow ThirstyMud Hydrating Treatment overnight, but you can rinse off after your desired amount of time if you want. GlamGlow masks are very popular and very expensive, but I have a few deluxe samples of ThirstyMud. It has a coconuty scent, which is okay to me—not my favorite scent. Like I said, I’ll sleep with this mask on. It absorbs pretty well into the skin, but not enough that you could put makeup over it. It leaves my skin super hydrated and soft.

6. Toner: Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner
Toners are generally used to reduce the look of pores and remove excess oil and makeup. I use toner most nights after I wash my face or use a mask to make sure I have cleaned off all my makeup and/or removed the mask residue. This toner has two all-natural ingredients: Witch Hazel and grain alcohol. Witch hazel is an astringent so it leaves your skin super clean. The grain alcohol part is pretty weird, but the smell is not strong and I don’t find that it irritates my skin at all.

7. Serum: Origins Plantscription Anti-Aging Serum
I have talked about this serum several times so I won’t belabor the point. This is a Holy Grail product for me. It leaves my skin bright and smooth and is another product that I notice the difference in my skin when I stop using it. I’m yet to find another serum I like anywhere close to this one. Serums are good for your skin because they are packed with a concentrated formula of anti-aging ingredients. This one doesn’t have parabens, phthalates, etc.

8. Eye Cream: Fresh Black Tea Age-Delay Eye Concentrate
I just finished my Kate Somerville eye cream Thursday night so I am only just beginning to use the Fresh Black Tea eye cream; therefore, I can’t provide a thorough review. I have a few samples of the Fresh eye cream from Sephora. So far, so good with this eye cream. It seems to be very moisturizing and absorbs into the skin nicely.

9. Moisturizer: L’Occitane Immortelle Precious Night Cream
I also just started using this night cream a few nights ago since I ran out of my eco-beauty moisturizer L I got this L’Occitane cream as part of a 500-point sample box from Sephora. It is very thick, which I like for a night cream, but absorbs into the skin well. It has a slight floral scent which I am not fond of, but it fades after a little while. So far, I really like this moisturizer. It is not greasy and leaves my skin feeling hydrated and looking bright. It claims to regenerate skin, and fight wrinkles, loss of radiance, loss of firmness and hyperpigmentation. I love getting deluxe size sample of high end products because I would never be able to afford buying them!

That’s my (rather long) night time skin care routine. What does your night time skin care routine look like? Let me know in the comments below!
