Savings Series Saturday! 1/31/15

CVS is my favorite store to grab great beauty deals. If you haven’t already, sign up for their ExtraCare card. You can swipe it in the front of the store at a kiosk and get tons of store coupons (that you can combine with manufacturer’s coupons). CVS will also email you coupons (e.g., $3 off a $15 dollar purchase, 30% off your regular price purchase) and you can get ExtraCare Bucks—these are essentially money, just money you can only use at CVS. You get ExtraCare Bucks (ECBs) by buying certain products (e.g., spend $12 on Revlon product and get $4 in ECBs back). You can use the ECBs on your next purchase. Also, if you sign up for CVS’s Beauty Club you get $5 ECBs when you spend $50 on beauty products. The $50 total is BEFORE coupons!

So sales + coupons + ECBs makes CVS my favorite couponing spot.

Here is the deal I snagged this week where I saved 60% on makeup!

I received a $10/$40 purchase coupon from CVS in my email. This includes sale items. I also had $11 in ECBs from my previous week’s shopping. So, right there, I had $21 towards a $40 purchase, more than 50% savings. Here’s what I got:

CoverGirl was buy one get one 50% off, with $1 ECB for each product you buy (up to 3). I got the outlast stay fabulous 3 in 1 foundation with SPF 20 in 810 classic ivory and the flamed out shadow pencil in 355 violet flame (swatch below). I’ve been wanting to try out this foundation for a while, and compare it to Revlon’s ColorStay foundation, because the 3 in 1 foundation is raved about on YouTube. A comparison post is on it’s way.
Breakdown: Foundation = $12.99; shadow pencil (50% off) = 3.89. I had a manufacturer’s coupon for $2 off of your purchase of 2 CoverGirl products so I used that too.

Revlon was spend $12 get $4 in ECBs. I got the ColorStay quad in 510 Precocious (mix of green/grays and purples). To get my Revlon purchase up to $12 I got the single ColorStay shadow in Cocoa (medium-deep brown).
            Breakdown: Quad = $8.79; single shadow = $3.39.

Finally, Maybelline was also spend $12 get $4 in ECBs. I got very excited when I spotted the Color Sensational Matte lipstick in 660 Touch of Spice. I’ve been looking for this color for weeks. It’s a browny red, on the darker side (swatch below). I also picked up the new Lash Sensational Full Fan Effect Volume Mascara. One side of the wand has short bristles to get close to the root of your lashes and the other side has longer bristles to fan out your lashes.
            Breakdown: Lippie = $8.79, mascara = $7.79. I also had a manufacturer’s coupon for $3 off of the mascara.

Top Swatch: CoverGirl flamed out shadow stick in Violet Flame.
Bottom Swatch: Maybelline Color Sensational Matte Lipstick in Touch of Spice.

Final Breakdown: Before coupons, sales and taxes, my total would have been $49.54.  Coupons used:
$10/$40 purchase CVS coupon (emailed to me from CVS)
$2 off the purchase of two CoverGirl products, manufacturer’s coupon
$3 off Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara, manufacturer’s coupon
$11 in ECBs from my previous week’s purchase
$3.90 off the CoverGirl shadow pencil (50% off CVS sale)

I paid $19.64 (before tax) for six products—a 60% savings!!  That’s less than $3.50 per product!
After all that, I also have $10 in ECBs to spend next week ($4 for spending $12 on Revlon, $4 for spending $12 on Maybelline and $2 for buying two CoverGirl products)!

Happy couponing and let me know if you want a Couponing 101!
